RF/Microwave
Low Noise Pre-Amplifier Design
-
Designed and modelled a LNA circuit in ADS that works over 5650 – 5925 MHz using CEL3512K2.
-
Calculated the VGG, RD, and Rbias from given values of VDD and Id.
-
Simulated the circuit over 2-18 GHz as we need to have unconditional stability over that range.
-
Concluded that low noise figure and high gain together are practically not possible, and some compromise needs to be made.
Dielectric Resonator Oscillator (DRO) Design
-
Designed and modelled a DRO using Infineon BFP 640 NPN Si-Ge device that provides steady state oscillation for 5.150 GHz +/- 500 kHz.
-
Developed the harmonic evaluation schematic to perform OscTest, OscPort, and Phase Noise analysis for analyzing power.
-
Resultant DRO has the minimum power of -10dBm with -20dBm adjacent harmonics.
Single balanced mixer Design
-
Designed and modelled a rat-race mixer using RF Schottky diodes.
-
Optimized the low pass filter, quad coupler, and mixer to meet the specifications.
-
Performed harmonic balance analysis to obtain the conversion power less than 15dBm for LO at 5.150 GHz, and RF at 3.7 - 4.2 GHz which produced IF in range 950 - 1450 MHz.
Ham Radio
